Update of the Macedonian National H-index Ranking in the second quarter of 2025

The updated Macedonian National H-index Ranking, an independent system for evaluating the scientific productivity of researchers and scientific institutions in the country, has been released based on the results of the second quarter of 2025. The ranking is based on an analysis of the Hirsch index and covers universities, research centres and individual scientists, demonstrating their scientific influence within Macedonia and in the international community.

What is the Macedonian National H-index Ranking?

The Macedonian National H-index Ranking – is a specialised ranking created to objectively evaluate scientific activity in Macedonia. The system is based on data from leading scientometric databases – Google Scholar, Scopus and Web of Science.

The ranking reflects the current position of researchers, scientific and educational institutions, serving as a tool for analysing their contribution to global science.

The goals and objectives of the ranking are:

1. To conduct an independent and objective assessment of the scientific performance of Macedonian researchers and institutions.
2. To conduct a comparative analysis of scientific productivity both within the country and according to international standards.
3. To increase Macedonia's scientific competitiveness at the global level.
4. To facilitate the effective distribution of state and international scientific grants.
5. To support strategic planning in the field of science and education.

Data for the 2nd quarter of 2025

The ranking includes scientific organisations and educational institutions that were ranked according to H-index indicators. As a result, the leading institutions with the highest scientific potential, as well as the best universities in Macedonia, were identified.
